But too often, the path forward depends on money, transportation, insider knowledge, consistent instruction, or access to professional tools. DSG exists to change that. We believe artistic excellence should not be reserved for people who already have the right resources, networks, or zip code. With the right structure, care, and opportunity, talent can grow anywhere.

Vanguard Voices lets the world hear what access becomes.
Where singers become leaders.
Vanguard Voices is DSG's flagship community chorus and living thesis statement. It shows what happens when singers are given structure, care, high standards, and a public platform. Participants build real musicianship — ear training, sight-singing, theory fluency, blend, discipline, and leadership — inside a rehearsal culture that holds them to elite standards while genuinely caring for their growth.
Then they share that growth. Public performances function as both community celebration and donor-facing impact storytelling — proof that excellence can be cultivated anywhere when the right systems and care are in place.

Ear Training
Developing the ability to hear, identify, and replicate musical elements with precision and confidence.
Sight-Singing
Reading and performing music notation in real time — a foundational skill for serious ensemble singers.
Theory Fluency

The organization is designed to grow responsibly, with dedicated oversight for strategy, finances, programming, governance, community outreach, and compliance — ensuring that every decision serves the mission.
Richard Baskin Jr. — Artistic Director
An accomplished musician and composer, Richard drives DSG's artistic vision with a focus on empowering underserved artists through creative opportunities and elite standards. His leadership ensures that every program reflects both rigor and humanity — never one without the other.
Andrew Wolverton — Executive Director
A seasoned arts leader with deep experience in nonprofit management and education, Andrew guides DSG's strategy, operations, partnerships, and long-term sustainability — building the infrastructure that allows artistic vision to become organizational reality.
